Programmes of study

Every programme belongs to a faculty and is taught by one of its departments. A certificate takes one year, a diploma two and a bachelor's degree three.

Three levels of study

The academic year has two semesters. A full-time student takes about 15 credit hours each semester.

Curriculum

What a programme is made of.

Each programme has a published curriculum listing the courses for every semester and the credits each one carries.

  • Core courses required by the programme
  • Elective courses chosen with your advisor
  • University requirements: English, Arabic, Islamic studies and computer skills
  • A supervised final-year project or placement

Progression

One award leads to the next

Credits earned at one level are recognised at the level above, in the same field.

    Certificate

    One year. Builds the foundation and study skills for a field.

  2. 02

    Diploma

    Two years. Certificate holders in the same field may enter the second year.

  3. 03

    Bachelor's degree

    Three years. Diploma holders in the same field may enter the second year.

Graduation

An award conferred by the university.

Students who complete the required credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above are presented for graduation by their faculty.
